In the heart of Ika federal constituency, a beacon of hope shines bright every 12th of the month. For the past 38 months, Dr. Donald Peterson has been the steadfast guardian angel for the widows of his community, extending his hand in support and compassion. What began as a modest gesture has blossomed into a beloved monthly ritual, eagerly anticipated by the widows who now see Dr. Peterson as their best friend and benefactor.

Under the auspices of the D-Peterson Foundation, Dr. Peterson’s initiative has grown exponentially, attracting more widows with each passing month. What started with a humble gathering of fewer than 1000 widows has now swelled to over 2000, a testament to the impact of his generosity and the trust he has cultivated within the community.

On the designated day, the widows converge upon Dr. Peterson’s house, their faces lit with gratitude and anticipation. Together, they bow their heads in prayer, offering thanks for his kindness and seeking blessings for their community, Ika land, Delta State and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Their prayers are a harmonious chorus, a symphony of gratitude and hope echoing through the halls of Dr. Peterson’s home.

Dr Peterson on his part, will tell whoever cares to listen that all what he is doing for the widows, he learnt it from the former Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa. As the then Governor of Delta State (2015 -2023) his government support for the widows was legendary.

With hearts uplifted, the widows then turn to celebration, dancing to joyous melodies that resonate with the spirit of camaraderie and resilience. Dr. Peterson, ever the gracious host, joins in their revelry, his presence a source of warmth and encouragement amidst the jubilant throng.

But the true highlight of the gathering comes when Dr. Peterson presents each widow with an envelope filled with not just cash, but also essential goods and tokens of care. The widows receive these gifts with tears of appreciation, knowing that they are not alone in their struggles, that they have a steadfast ally in Dr. Peterson and the D-Peterson Foundation.

Dr. Donald Peterson is more than just a philanthropist; he is a pillar of strength, a beacon of hope, and a tireless advocate for the marginalized. In addition to his unwavering support for widows, he serves as a Special Adviser to the Delta State government on entrepreneurship development, leveraging his expertise to empower others and drive sustainable change.

As the President and Founder of the D-Peterson Foundation, Dr. Peterson’s legacy of compassion and generosity continues to touch the lives of countless individuals, transforming despair into hope and hardship into opportunity. Through his selfless actions, he exemplifies the true essence of leadership and reminds us all of the profound impact one person can make in the lives of others.

In the hearts of the widows of Ika land, Dr. Donald Peterson will forever be remembered as their best friend, their champion, and their guardian angel.
