As the Delta State government prepares for the forthcoming local government election, the political landscape in Ika South is abuzz with various agendas, notably those aligned with the interests of the Agbor and Abavo kingdoms. However, amidst these factional divisions, it is imperative to reevaluate the focus of political discourse and prioritize the collective interest of the populace.

Ika South, comprising the Agbor and Abavo kingdoms, stands at a critical juncture where political affiliations often overshadow the genuine needs of the community. The prevalent promotion of Agbor or Abavo agendas serves to perpetuate division rather than foster unity and progress.

At the heart of this issue lies the neglect of the common man’s welfare and aspirations. While political stakeholders rally behind their respective kingdom’s agenda, the ordinary citizens find themselves marginalized and overlooked. It is time to shift the narrative and prioritize the elevation of individuals who possess the requisite qualities for effective governance.

Instead of perpetuating the Agbor or Abavo dichotomy, the focus should shift towards identifying candidates with demonstrated credibility, dynamism, and a proven track record of service delivery. The emphasis must be on promoting leaders who embody integrity, competence, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people.

Irrespective of their kingdom of origin, candidates should be evaluated based on their ability to drive meaningful development initiatives, foster inclusive governance, and prioritize the needs of all constituents. This approach transcends parochial interests and fosters a sense of unity and inclusivity within the community.

By rallying behind individuals with a proven capacity for leadership and a dedication to public service, the electorate can transcend divisive agendas and collectively pursue the advancement of Ika South as a whole. It is time to jettison the narrow confines of the Agbor or Abavo agenda and embrace a more inclusive and progressive vision for the local government.

As the election approaches, let us unite behind candidates who embody the values of transparency, accountability, and genuine concern for the well-being of all residents. Only by transcending divisive agendas and forging a common path towards progress can Ika South realize its full potential and fulfill the aspirations of its people.
