THE NASU MEMBERS ARE THE BEDROCK IN THE UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM, SAYS COMRADE IKWU

The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) at the University of Delta, Agbor, has been recognized as the bedrock of the university’s administration system. According to Comrade Joel Ikwu, the branch chairman of the NASU, members of the union are usually the first and last point of contact in a university, making them instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the institution.

Comrade Ikwu emphasized the importance of NASU members in a typical university setting. He revealed that when one enters the University of Delta, Agbor, they are greeted by the gate men and security men, who are members of the NASU. He also stated that the university’s cleaners and gardeners, as well as clerical and administrative officers, are all part of the NASU. These individuals process admissions, manage students’ records, print certificates and results. Without their critical role, the university administration cannot function efficiently.

In an interview with the EOB Media crew, Comrade Ikwu recognized the role of the academic staff union in the teaching and learning process. However, he reiterates that the NASU members are crucial and irreplaceable when it comes to the day-to-day running of the institution. He acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the NASU members and the successes they have achieved in managing and ensuring the smooth running of the University of Delta, Agbor.

Comrade Ikwu further commends the University of Delta, Agbor management, particularly the Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chimeke for her transformational leadership at the university. Under the guidance of Prof Chimeke, the university has made great strides in academic excellence. He praised the Vice Chancellor for her commitment to the welfare of the staff and students, which has led to the institution’s growth and development.

In conclusion, the NASU members play a vital role in the university administration, and their contribution is critical to the success of the institution. Comrade Joel Ikwu emphasizes the importance of the NASU members in the University of Delta, Agbor and called on the university management to continue to recognize and support the hardworking NASU members. Their contribution to the success of the university should not be overlooked, as they are the unsung heroes who keep the university running.
