Comrade Joel Ikwu, the branch chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, has emphatically declared that NASU is repositioned for unparalleled greatness, reiterating its pivotal role within the Nigerian university system. He underscored that NASU is not inferior to any other union in the University ecosystem.

In a recent press interview with EOB Media crew, Comrade Ikwu illuminated the irreplaceable contributions of NASU members in the academic environment. “NASU members are traditionally the first and the last point of contact in any University system,” he emphasized. “When you enter the University of Delta, Agbor, for instance, the security personnel at the gate welcomes you. The cleanliness and organization of the campus, maintained by cleaners and gardeners, ensure a conducive learning environment. Moreover, the clerical and administrative officers manage the entire student lifecycle, from the processing of admissions to the issuance of results and certificates.”

While acknowledging the significant roles that academic staff play in teaching and learning, Comrade Ikwu stressed that it should not overshadow the importance of the Non-Academic Staff Union. Each group, he noted, has unique contributions that are essential to the university’s overall success.

Comrade Ikwu took the opportunity to laud the efforts of the University of Delta Agbor’s management team, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stella Chimeke. “Her transformational leadership and specific recognition of NASU’s efforts have been invaluable,” he stated. “This kind of leadership fosters an environment where every contribution is valued, further motivating the NASU members.”

Additionally, Comrade Ikwu urged NASU members to continuously strive for professionalism, dedication, and commitment in their duties. He hinted at forthcoming programs orchestrated under his leadership which are designed to benefit the union members significantly, provided they engage with them actively.

“The future is bright for NASU,” Comrade Ikwu continued. “We are poised for greatness, and I encourage every member to recognize their importance and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we will build a union that is not just integral but indispensable to the University of Delta, Agbor.”

As UNIDEL moves forward, the strengthened resolve and pride within NASU are expected to lead the way in showcasing the union’s essential role in shaping the university’s legacy.
