AGBOR, Delta State— A Nigerian-born, US-based physician and scientist, Dr. Henry Onyemarin, has showered praises on Barr. Chiedu Ebie, the co-convener of the Delta Unity Group (DUG), for organizing what he described as a “historic and politically seismic” rally held yesterday in Agbor, Delta State.

The DUG rally, which culminated in the mass defection of over 10,000 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), has sent strong signals across the state’s political spectrum. The event drew the attention of national heavyweights in Nigeria’s political sphere, including the National Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, former Governor of Kano State; the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Sen. Monday Okpebholo; and other top party stalwarts, who all converged in Agbor to witness what many now term a game-changer in Delta politics.

In a telephone interview with the EOB Media Crew, Dr. Onyemarin, who hails from Ekuku Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, expressed delight at the scale and impact of the rally. He particularly commended Barr. Ebie for leveraging his position as the chairman of the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to bring democratic dividends to the people of Delta State.

“Barr. Ebie is one man I admired from afar for all his giant developmental strides, especially in the area of human capital development—something my family and I have personally benefited from. But that’s a story for another day,” Dr. Onyemarin said warmly.

Speaking on the political implications of the rally, Dr. Onyemarin remarked that the Agbor event was more than a gathering; it was a bold statement that will undoubtedly reshape the political landscape in Delta State. “This mega rally has marked the beginning of a new era. The sheer number of defectors, the caliber of guests, and the flawless organization reflect not just unity, but readiness for real change,” he added.

He went further to congratulate Barr. Ebie and his DUG team for their resilience, vision, and ability to galvanize grassroots support. “To gather such numbers and sustain such energy requires passion and purpose. Barr. Ebie and the DUG team deserve our commendation for pulling this off with excellence,” he said.

As the dust settles from the rally, political analysts and observers are already predicting a significant shift in power dynamics in Delta State ahead of the next election cycle, all thanks to a pressure group that has now proven itself as a political force to reckon with.

With DUG’s momentum rising and key players like Barr. Ebie leading the charge, many are watching keenly to see how this new political chapter unfolds.
