The University of Delta, Agbor, was filled with an atmosphere of gratitude today as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, received 12 copies of the groundbreaking book Against the Tide: Pro-Feminist Men in the United States, 1776-1990. Edited by renowned scholars Michael S. Kimmel and Thomas E. Mosmiller, the books were generously donated by Dr. Thomas E. Mosmiller, one of the editors.
The donation was facilitated by Mr. Nduka Egbonimali Uhiere-Ebite, a U.S.-based Nigerian nurse and community values advocate, who coordinated the gesture as part of his commitment to improving educational resources in his homeland. Representing Dr. Mosmiller at the event was Ewere Okonta, a lecturer at the University and a notable social media influencer, who handed over the books to the Vice Chancellor on behalf of the donor.
Prof. Stella Chiemeke expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Mosmiller for his benevolence and emphasized the importance of the books in fostering academic excellence at the institution. She assured attendees that the donated materials would be utilized effectively to benefit both students and faculty members.
The Vice Chancellor also commended Ewere Okonta for his tireless efforts in attracting donors to the University. “This gesture reflects the global network of goodwill that supports our mission to deliver world-class education,” she stated with a broad smile.
The event was witnessed by prominent members of the University community, including Barr. Richmond Omagbemi, the University Registrar, and Mr. Edward Akpate Ogwude, the Public Relations Officer (PRO). Media representatives, including Mr. Friday Odabi and Mr. Akinola Junior Aladejowo from Ika Mirror Newspaper, were also present to cover the ceremony.
The highpoint of the event was the official presentation of the books by Ewere Okonta to Prof. Chiemeke. The moment symbolized a meaningful collaboration between academia and international advocates for educational advancement.
